Mmm. Growl.

Hungry. Very hungry. redshrike reducing me to near starvation with cranberry slaw descriptions. Must forage. Did not eat very much in last two days, so woke up this morning feeling dramatically ill. My fault, yes. Made large pot of rice porridge for me and the brother. Broke out our one can of mock abalone (scroll down itty bit). Beautiful stuff. Scoured Tops at KLCC for dry fried gluten puffs (basically mock abalone sans brine). They didn't seem to have it in stock. Hoping they didn't just take it out of their vegetarian section altogether. Would be most sad, since the only places left I know that sell dry fried gluten puffs are all the way in Bangsar. Eeek. Transportation horror. Miserably enough, that one supermarket in Bangsar is also the only one I know that sells vegetarian mutton (this company is Malaysian, check out the mock chicken). Rumors abound that there is a vegetarian supply store in Brickfields, but the transportation nightmare of that is even worse. The things I have to do to get decent vegetarian meat around here. It's not scarce, just arse kicking splotchy between supermarkets.

On the path to finding online places selling lovely vegetarian meat products, I found a recipe for Mock Chicken Abalone Thermidore. Frankly sounds peculiar, but very creamy and tasty nonetheless. And it's not vegetarian, it's just they're replacing abalone with chicken flavored in clam stock. So hungry. Will have to remember to hunt for more gluten puffs when Mom next goes out for groceries. Detest leaving room and house and safety of no people. But helping Mom is good, and vegetarian food also good. Mom comes back tomorrow, meaning we might start to get decent food around here again.

Re: Thanksgiving just past here...
Sounds awfully like the Chinese saying they'll "...eat anything with its back towards the sun."

Be careful. Your shishkabob will bite.
