Filling up forms for the David TK Wong Fellowship. I had to put together a proposal for a project, so I brought out my latest idea, which is a collection I'm tentatively calling Life in Isolation, a set of dark fiction exploring themes of dissociation and isolation from family and culture in Southeast Asia. My personal theory is that the shorter a proposal the better, so I'm working with about 1/5th of that number right now, which might just be too short. Or a perfect fit for the box provided, which was kind of nifty.

It has also hit me that if Finches were only 10,000 words longer, I could qualify it as a novel, which would give me the microscopic chance of applying for the Man Asian Literary Prize. But I'm having enough trouble finishing it at 20,000 words.

mokie's inspirational proposed project outline for grants: OMG j00 publish my storiez bitches!

God, I love that girl.

Spent the week after the KSP mostly getting buried by work. I have about two months of mental peace from now on. Haven't gotten to my Residency reports for the KSP yet, which might worry Chris the Treasurer. Planning to finish the lot tomorrow and mail it off. House sitting for my parents, which is technically untrue, since I live with my parents. My Psychotic Gardening Mommy calls every day to make sure her plants have been watered and I didn't accidentally miss not watering them twice a day or they will get crispy, and then further watering after that is pointless, her weeks of careful watering will be wasted, and plants will die OMGWTFBBQ. In fact, Psychotic Gardening Mommy just called again:

Psychotic Gardening Mommy: j00 must w4t3r my pl4ntx0rs or they will all D13!!!!!!!11111
Hamp: (thought bubble) YAY! GOFFIC PLANT DEATH!

If plants do die from goffic plant death, I'll be the one dead in two months. Like, yeah dude, and really.

There you go - a new business plan: the goth flower shop selling a dozen dead roses for only $12 USD!

Or you can steal John Allison's idea for a goth pet shop. I think that is a crab in a tank behind Shelley's head. Are crabs particulary gothy?

Goth pet shop! Now I have to go back in time and see why Ryan suddenly got a pet bat. ;)

I don't know if crabs are goth, but they are hella freaky. A friend keeps hermit crabs. Lotsa hermit crabs. She calls them her pink spider babies. Is she goth? She's the one who says I remind her of Sadako, fondly.

Ryan received Comrade Bat as a replacement for Friend Bat who suffered from starvation while Ryan was missing due to amnesia. :(

Friend Bat was first acquired after a bad date and Ryan needed a good listening ear!

Meanwhile, I'm loving the new coloring on Dark Esther in the goth pet shop panel. *squee*

Well, definitely not a peanut since peanuts are peas and not nuts. :D

Oh, and I've never had hermit crabs. I will take your word that they are freaky.

You also have a hamster that gives people the Evil Eye. It's not often I get freaked out by a hamster, y'know.

Are you sure it's a gothy crab and not an emo crab? *waggles eyebrows*
