The Bomoh: Now in Fully Cursed Audio!

A number of you have asked to hear what I sound like, and I thought, well, what better way to dig my own grave than read you some of my writing online?

The Bomoh is a non-fiction story that previously appeared in Morbid Curiosity #7 (2003). Morbid Curiosity released its tenth and final issue last month. Its editor, the very dear Loren Rhoads (morbidloren), will be hosting Morbid Curiosity's final Open Mic at the World Horror Convention 2006 tonight (Californian time) at 11 P.M.. Also at the reading will be some of the featured contributors to MC, including Maurice Broaddus, Simon Wood, John Everson, Claudius Reich, Alan M. Clark and Seth Lindberg (scanner_darkly). I'm sure everyone will cause wonderful things to happen tonight. If you're able to, please go lend them your support!

In an absolutely unrelated fashion, I will now read The Bomoh for you as a downloadable file available here (29MB, OGG format). I did most of the read in one pass, and it is pretty rough. I apologize for any mispronunciations, grammatical flaws, bizarre accents, misplaced tones, odd squeaks, whining server noises, hollow echoes, dull thuds, wheezing lungs and actually offering you guys a chance to torture yourselves on 20:58 minutes of my spoken word.* I won't ask you not to laugh, but if you aren't going to say something nice, then please say it anyway. :)

* I also apologize about encoding the file in .OGG. Nothing I had wanted to encode it properly as an MP3.
