W00t!

Chiaroscuro took Rahim. Now I just need to know when it's going to be published. :)

Gadzooks, I should do something with my site, even.

And this code. This dreadful, dreadful code. It's trying to bore my eyes out.

OH! Before I forget, this Chizine publication will qualify you next year for the John W. Campbell Award.

After WorldCon this year, they'll post a new page. Make sure to notify them that you qualify. You'll have to poke around to find the official rules (they're somewhere around there). But Chi is one of the qualifying magazines now.

Wooo! :D

That award looks remarkably cool. Unfortunately, I saw that the award states the qualifying writer must have had their first professional rate publication within the last two years. And my first professional rate publication was in Gothic.Net, back in 2001. :(

Unless... I don't know. It miraculously doesn't count? I was paid well above the $0.03 minimum for that story in G.net. Though I haven't had any other pro rate publications of anything till Chi since then.

I would ask. Like me, you could say, "Hey! I didn't know about this until now!" and they might let you qualify for 2007. They probably won't let you run for 2008 is the thing. (If you're a newly qualified writer, they normally let you run for two years straight.)

Oops. Meant to say, I'll email them in a bit, and thank you for the heads up! (And encouragement! And kind words! And stuff!)

*hugs* Y'know, I haven't figured out how to tell my parents yet. Or decided if it is any of their business to know yet. But then, Finches may be the most parent-friendly story I've ever written.

I know how you feel. I got excited about the Preliminary Ballot and told my boss. Bad idea. She's now anxious to read these stories. You know, the ones that are both about BDSM? Yeah. Ah, well! I'm going to photocopy her a copy of "What You Make Of It" by Michael Marshall Smith instead, as it's about an assassin in Disney's Celebration neighborhood -- er, I mean "Wonderland". ;)

I did tell Mom about Finches before. She didn't seem to mind. I did try to tell Dad before, but I'm not sure he understood what I was trying to stumble over. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing. There's no sex in this one. Almost no violence. The last and only time they read a story of mine, they tried to get me to take it off the Net, and when they couldn't, they wanted me to not link to it from my site in case their friends saw it.

But that had violence and sex and altogether naughtier things.

Guy gets haunted by evolution and murders his own family. So innocent!
