The End of an Era

The Outcast came back to me about my edited version of Mudfish Goddess. They loved it, had nothing to change after what I did. The editor still bugs me for the way she's touting this thing like a great feminist drama. My piece apparently has women-uniting powers under the banners of the tampon and feminine pad because clearly, any woman who reads my story is going to remember her first menstrual cycle and how the pain made her wish she never menstruated, thus making her a social outcast.

The version I sent back was remarkably more moralistic than I am wont to write. Actually, it was startlingly moralistic, and pretty horrible. I'm not sure it's the sort of thing I'd want to be remembered for.

On the bright side, the anthology will be widely distributed.

But the story will still reek.

Hamster: It's like...like...Anne McCaffrey...except with...sex....and....blood...
Hamster: Maybe I'll start a revolution where little girls everywhere want no periods rather than pet dragons...
mokie: *LMAO*
Hamster: But I'm looking at the bright side! ;)
mokie: Imagine the plushies?
Hamster: Mudfish plushies must be kinda cute.
mokie: And slimy.
Hamster: Nono! Shiny material does the trick.
Hamster: *thinks* Gosh. I want a mudfish plushie now.
mokie: *LMAO*
Hamster: But it would look just like a sock puppet...a brown one...with fins...and button eyes...
mokie: Duuuuuuuuuuude. :D
Hamster: Yep. Small cottage industry right there. Mudfish plushies, sold with a story.
Hamster: Actually.... *$_$*

You know what? I think I'll just wait for Best of the Rest 2006...
