Chizine #29 in Tangent Online

The very dear scanner_darkly once made one of his long-range predictions about my writing future, and came upon the idea that I would one day be accused of writing literary fiction.

I have been so accused of writing literary fiction.

I'm fairly amused.

Also: I wanted to put this up when "Rahim" went live in Chi, but I think I forgot. There is a glossary to the Finches series of stories that might be helpful. It has things like the symbolism of the names and critters that show up from a cultural angle.

"Muffaz does a nice job at capturing a non-white cultural voice."

Well, yes! *snort*

And there are those of us who do love deeply and fully literary genre stories. Just saying.

Thanks. *snugs* I endeavour to confound yet more critics by writing more fiction that oozes itself into random genre configurations. :)

I think it is like partaking of a cup of fine tea. We notice one layer of flavouring, maybe that this tea smells a certain way. Some of us will find that the tea has more layers with each fresh draw. Some of us will be satisfied with the first layer we encountered. It is interesting that way.

Though I did find the idea that I wasn't quite immersing someone enough in a "non-white culture" funny. That, and the purple prose thing being rather true! ;)
